Medicare through HSA Insurance
At HSA Insurance, we are providing guidance and solutions for individuals, small groups, and those exploring Medicare under the Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA). Here's everything you need to know about our Medicare practices and support:
Medicare is federal health insurance primarily for individuals aged 65 and older, and for certain younger people with disabilities. It comprises several parts:
- Medicare Part A: Covers inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, inpatient rehabilitation services, and some home health care services.
- Medicare Part B: Covers physician services, outpatient hospital services, certain home health services, durable medical equipment, and other medical and health services not covered by Part A.
- Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage): Offers an alternative way to receive Medicare benefits through private insurance plans approved by Medicare. These plans often include Part A, Part B, and sometimes Part D coverage.
- Medicare Part D: Helps cover prescription drug costs.

Medicare under ICHRA:
Navigating Medicare under the Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) can be complex, but we're here to simplify the process. Employees eligible for Medicare can be reimbursed through ICHRA, provided they have Part A and B, or Part C coverage. We recommend designing ICHRA to accommodate Medicare coverage to comply with Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) and ICHRA rules. When transitioning from traditional group plan to an ICHRA, employees will need to ensure they
have both Medicare Part A and Part B. Employees that are Medicare eligible will likely have Part A.
Losing their group plan will qualify them to register for Part B as a Special Enrollment Period.
For assistance with Medicare for ICHRA groups or individuals, contact our ICHRA support team at ichra@hsainsurance.com.
Support:
We always inform our brokered clients to check with their assigned broker first for their Medicare needs. If it is stated their broker does not provide those services, we will work with the client to support them with their Medicare needs.
At HSA Insurance, we're committed to simplifying the Medicare journey and ensuring our clients receive the coverage they need.
